Welcome to our free Ableton Analog preset pack of acid patches, plus a rack with macros and effects to tweak and make your own 303 acid lines in Ableton. The Roland tb303 is a really famous mono synth, to replicate it I recommend using lots of 1/16 notes and then making a few overlap to replicate the 303’s sequencer and slide features. You can even use a max for live step sequencer with our rack to mimic the tb303’s sequencer.
Here’s an audio preview of the presets:

A run down of the Ableton Analog Acid presets…
There’s 5 acid / 303 presets here, and a rack…
1 osc plus sub osc – A tight envelope saw-wave acid stab, with a sinewave sub bass under it.
2 saws, dstrtd – Two saw waves, one an octave lower, for a fuller acid bass.
2 square waves – Two square waves, one an octave lower, for a fuller acid bass.
Saw wave envelope legato – This patch uses envelope legato and slide for elastic acid lines (using a saw wave).
Square wave envelope legato – This patch uses envelope legato and slide for elastic acid lines (using a square wave).
A run down of the Ableton Analog Acid rack Macros…
The rack “Studio Brootle Analog Acid Rack” – The rack is set with two saw waves, one an octave down from the other. The macros control filter frequency and resonance, velocity’s effect on filter envelope amount, the envelope’s effect on frequency, overdrive, echo amount, reverb amount and reverb decay.
Note: use velocity in your midi clips! It will push the note through the filter more (or less depending how you set it). This is similar to the accent feature on the 303, but with more control.
What the Macros do and how to use them…
Here’s what the macros do with tips on using them…
F1 freq – The cut off frequency – lift it up to open up the sound.
F1 Resonance – the filter resonance – use it to get that squealing high end.
FEQ1 < Vel – this is how much velocity will affect the filter. You want to use different velocities in your MIDI clip to add accents to it.
F1 Freq < Env – This is how much the filter is modulated by the filter envelope.
OverDrive – over drive distortion amount.
Echo Amount – The mix of the Echo unit.
Reverb Amount – The mix of the reverb.
Reverb Decay – The length of the reverb – turn it up to build a long background reverb tone and to build tension.
