Free Rack – Ableton Acid Drone Siren For Industrial Techno and Drones etc…

I made this acid drone siren rack for Ableton, for techno etc, it’s a fairly simple sinewave patch but shaped with a filter envelope and harmonic distortion and shaper/drive etc. I was influenced by a sinewave-y drone I heard in a Dasha Rush set and then tried to recreate that sound.
The rack has a ‘Pitch’ midi module to bring the pitch down an octave. Then an Operator which has has just 2 oscillators -both sinewaves an octave apart to phatten them a bit.
Then the sound is shaped with the filter envelope and then distortions are added. The distortions really shape this patch. The shaper and drive are added at the Operator filter section, then more drive is added with the Auto filter, and the Overdrive unit, the more Drive and Crush are added with the Drum Buss unit.
Then the patch is EQ’d, Echo’d and Reverbed.
The key here is lots of small distortions that add harmonics. The filter envelope causes the filter to sweep and the distortions accentuate this.
I’ve put the most important distortions up on the Macros to tweak, as well as ‘Time’ which opens or closes all Operator’s envelopes at the same time so it’s really good to automate or tweak as it lengthens or shortens the sound.
