Studio Brootle 808 Sample Pack

Welcome to our 808 sample pack. Possibly the most sampled drum machine of all time the tr808, known for its booming kick and huge snares (especially when layered with the clap ala 80s electro). Used in techno, electro, house, hip hop and further afield for 40 years, it is a beast of a machine. I’ve processed it here with various saturations and overdrives for more mid range and high end, and added eq-sculpted distorted reverb rumbles from the kicks and low toms for modern techno bass.

I love the 808 drum samples… I use them in techno, electro, I gate the drums short for IDM, I use the kick tail in a sampler for basslines (just removing the main punchy part at the start). They sound great on their own, and processed heavily with distortion too.

History of 808 Drum Samples

So what Is The 808 Drum Machine? The “Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer” came out in the early 1980s and has been used heavily in music every since, especially in hip-hop and electro, due to it’s massive booming kick drum, as well as it’s noisy snare (which was often layered with the clap for an even bigger hit). It’s been used in countless pop records by everyone from Marvin Gaye to Whitney Houston.

It sounds great today and is still heavily used in techno and electro, as well as still being a stable of hip-hop, especially in modern Atlanta trap music, and often sampled and processed a sampler/DAW rather than sequenced off the 808 drum machine itself.
