For this I wanted to make a nasty, detuned techno chord sequence that can generate the midi/sequence/chord easily and I can get it really nasty on the detuning. I’ve achieved with layering synths and an arpeggiator and chord unit to trigger them. All the important Macros are assigned upfront so these can be tweaked live…
The rack has 3 stacked Ableton Analog units, so they are layers on top of each other for a really thick sound. The first 2 are to make the main techno synth, with 4 detuned oscillators. Their main Filter controls are each mapped the macros, so when you move the Filter Freq macro you’re moving it on both synths. This way they function together as one big mega synth. The last Analog layer is a sub bass underneath for a full low end.
The first 2 synths have a chord unit so any one note you play is converted into a chord. Then there is an arpeggiator too to make those step sequenced style techno chords from the midi you put in. So you get these wandering chord-sequence. Then they are processed with Amp distortion, Echo and Reverb.
There’s a Reverb unit and a Drum Buss unit to distort everything at the end and glue it all together.
The first 7 Macro controls control the two main Analog units, so they function as one big analog synth, like I said before. Plus there’s a Sub Bass volume control as the last macro.
